COHME is a home health care agency providing services of the highest quality to the elderly and their families in New York City. Licensed by the New York State Department of Health, we have been offering our professional services to families throughout New York City since 1984.

In the 1980s, American social worker Lucy Rosengarten worked briefly in Italy. She was astonished by the totality of care and made it her life’s mission to bring this model to the U.S. by founding COHME.

COHME mission: provide superior, compassionate care and excellent support services for our aides

Our Founding Mission

COHME has a dual mission: to provide superior, compassionate care to our clients, and excellent jobs and support services for our aides.

Being a home health care aide is a demanding job. At COHME, we try to help our aides to solve problems and accommodate complications that arise. So much so, that we dedicate a staff social-work career specialist just for their needs. She helps the aides with practical problems and serves as a resource for furthering their education and career advancement. Caring for the caregivers reflects our commitment to our home care staff as well as our clients.

Aides who thrive are more able to provide exceptional care for you or your loved one. COHME cultivates a supportive structure of care that benefits all parties involved. Entrust your loved one in caring, capable hands. Get in touch with COHME

Our People

Laura Radensky, LCSW, Executive Director

As Executive Director, Laura—a Licensed Clinical Geriatric Social Worker (LCSW) with training in Dementia Care—focuses on the emotional and logistical needs of both clients and aides. She helps secure funding for aide support programs, and oversees operations to provide ongoing high-quality care.

Before joining our committed team, Laura developed business strategies and coordinated community-based programs for a large NYC nursing facility. She has overseen social work, telehealth, intake and volunteer programs for community-based geriatric services in addition to working as a legislative liaison.

With over 25 years in home healthcare, she works to deepen the COHME legacy established by Lucy Rosengarten and Carol Kamine-Brown. Throughout her career, Laura has applied abundant compassion and rigorous ethics to create the best solutions for clients and aides alike. Get in touch with Laura >
